Who is Jesus Christ (Continued)
The Bible tells us in John 1: 1-2 & 14 and 1 John 5:7 that:
As noted in the previous scriptures, the Word is God. This Word is also Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came and dwelt among us in the flesh. The following scriptures also help to give more revelation that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our Lord and Savior and God Almighty:
What is the purpose for Jesus to dwell among us?
When God created mankind, He knew beforehand that man would sin. The Bible tells us that:
The consequence of sin is total separation from God, the Father, and death. The only means for man to be reconciled (back into fellowship with God) is through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches in John 3:16-17 that:
God’s desire is that no one should perish, but that everyone is reconciled unto Him and attains everlasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
The point to note here is that when an individual dies, the body is dead, but the spirit of man still lives on; i.e.; the spirit of man does not die. The question is where do you want your spirit to live after death? There are only two places, either in heaven with the Lord or in hell with the Devil. Each person has to make a choice.
As the scriptures above mentioned, God loves you so much that He sent His only Son to die for your sins; your past, present and future sins. This is why Jesus is our Lord and Savior. He gave His life with the shedding of His blood so that our sins can be forgiven whereby reconciliation might occur between man and God and man can have everlasting life with our Lord.
The following scriptures also help to give more revelation that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our Lord and Savior:
What must I do to be saved and have everlasting life?
Many people ask the questions, “Can I be saved?” Generally when such a question is asked it is because a person sees their sins too big to be forgiven. But notice what the Bible says in John 3:16
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
This scripture does not make reference to the type or size of one’s sin, but rather states that whoever believes in Him (Jesus as their Savior) should not perish but have everlasting life.
In verse 17 it also states that:
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
God’s interest is not to condemn you, but to save you from the wrath of the devil and having to spend eternal life in hell. That is why the Lord sent His only begotten Son that He may shed His blood and die for our sin. By accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and seeking forgiveness of your sins you will be saved with everlasting life.
The following are the steps to be saved, i.e.; to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and seek forgiveness of sin:
And also the Bible says in Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The Bible tells us in John 1: 1-2 & 14 and 1 John 5:7 that:
- John 1:1-5 & 14 ... 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
- 1 John 5:7 ... For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
As noted in the previous scriptures, the Word is God. This Word is also Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came and dwelt among us in the flesh. The following scriptures also help to give more revelation that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our Lord and Savior and God Almighty:
- John 10:30 -- Jesus said, "I and the Father are one."
- John 10:38 -- "But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."
- John 14:8-10 -- 8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." 9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
- John 14:20 -- On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
- 2 Corinthians 5:19 -- That is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
- Philippians 2:9-11 -- 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
- 2 Corinthians 4:4 -- Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
- Colossians 1:15 -- He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
What is the purpose for Jesus to dwell among us?
When God created mankind, He knew beforehand that man would sin. The Bible tells us that:
- Romans 3:23-24 -- 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
- Romans 5:12 -- "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned;"
- Proverbs 10:16 -- The labor of the righteous leads to life, The wages of the wicked to sin.
- Romans 6:23 -- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The consequence of sin is total separation from God, the Father, and death. The only means for man to be reconciled (back into fellowship with God) is through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches in John 3:16-17 that:
- John 3:16-17 -- 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
The following scriptures also help to give more revelation that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our Lord and Savior:
- Matthew 26:28 -- For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
- John 6:53-54 -- 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
- Romans 3:23-25 -- 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed
- Ephesians 1:7 -- In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
- Revelation 1:5 -- and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
- 2 Corinthians 5:19 -- That is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
- Colossians 1:19-23 -- 19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. 21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
What must I do to be saved and have everlasting life?
Many people ask the questions, “Can I be saved?” Generally when such a question is asked it is because a person sees their sins too big to be forgiven. But notice what the Bible says in John 3:16

The following are the steps to be saved, i.e.; to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and seek forgiveness of sin:
- Realize that you are sinner: - 1 John 1:8, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
- Confess from your mouth: - 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
And also the Bible says in Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
- Repent from your sins: - Acts 3:19 "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord
- Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior: - By faith accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior of your life and invite Him in your life. When a person does this, his/her life changes and he/she becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus.
- New creation: - 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
- Promise of everlasting life: - John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."
